ADULT SERVICES CLERK (PART-TIME):

A part-time position (20 hours per week) in the Adult Services Department

Responsibilities include:
Sorting and processing interlibrary loans; pulling the daily interlibrary loan pick list (Monday-Friday); assisting patrons by utilizing library resources and materials; straighten and read shelves in the Adult Services collections; maintain the general tidiness of the main library area; perform other duties as assigned.

Requires the following skills:
Ability to learn the use of SirsiDynix Workflows; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to interact successfully with the Department Head and other staff; ability to recognize the need to refer problems to others (qualified staff) in the Department; must be able to lift, bend, climb, stoop and be on feet for majority of the day; prior library experience is desirable.

Additional requirements:
Must be a Calumet City resident with a high school diploma, one year of related work experience and the availability to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Starting wage: $10.05 per hour



CIRCULATION CLERK (PART-TIME):

A part-time position (20 hours per week) in the Circulation Services Department

Responsibilities include:
Checking in and checking out materials; entering patron registrations; notifying patrons about the availability of reserve materials; collecting fines and fees and recording transactions on the cash register.

Requires the following skills:
Basic computer knowledge; the ability to learn the use of SirsiDynix Symphony system; accuracy and attention to detail; the ability to interact successfully with the Department Head and other staff; the ability to recognize the need to refer problems to appropriate staff members; and the ability to handle challenging situations in a tactful, positive manner. Prior work experience in a library setting is desirable.

Additional requirements:
Must be a Calumet City resident with a high school diploma, one year of related work experience and the availability to work days, evenings and weekends. Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.

Starting wage: $10.05 per hour



TECHNOLOGY CLERK (PART-TIME):

A part-time position (20 hours per week) in the Technology Department.

Responsibilities include: Managing the public Technology Area Desk, setting up the Technology Training Center for classes, providing basic computer assistance for patrons, and assisting with other projects as needed.

Requires the following skills: Basic computer knowledge; the ability to learn PC Reservations and the VendPrint systems; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; the ability to empathize and relate to patrons' needs; the ability to interact successfully with the Department Head and other staff; and the ability to recognize the need to refer problems to appropriate staff members. Great customer service is essential!

Additional requirements: Must be a Calumet City resident with a high school diploma, related work experience, and the availability to work evenings and weekends.

Starting wage: $10.05 per hour



YOUTH SERVICES PAGE (PART-TIME):

A part-time position (20 hours per week) in the Calumet City Public Library Youth Services Department. Responsible for maintaining the correct shelving of Youth Services materials and assisting with other tasks which support the activities of the Youth Services Department.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Sorting, shelving, shifting and cleaning materials; assisting with duplication of publicity materials and the preparation of setting/cleaning up or assisting with Youth Services programs.

Requires the following skills: The ability to accomplish repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy; ability to interact successfully with the Department Head and other staff; ability to recognize the need to refer problems to appropriate Youth Services staff members; ability to operate departmental equipment; the ability to lift, bend, climb and stoop; basic computer knowledge a plus.

Must be a resident of Calumet City who is sixteen years of age or older. Work schedule may include evenings and Saturdays.

Starting wage: $9.25 per hour
